You and your companions are sitting in a dark corner of a cheap and dirty tavern. The cold winters wind howls outside, reminding you of the rumours that evil creatures have been roaming the land. On the stained table in front of you lies a faded parchment. Casting your mind back, you remember the events that brought you here. Alone and out of work (for there has not been much work for an adventurer since G'rahd'ak the foul Orc chieftain was defeated last fall) you wound up in this small village on the edges on the civilised world. A rough notice tacked outside the town hall had promised money and fame to anyone who was strong and brave, willing to embark on a new adventure. You tore off the little strip of details, fluttering off the bottom on the notice, noticing that several other slips had already been claimed. Later that day, an hour after sunset, you follow the instructions on the strip and enter the local tavern. Inquiries with the bulky barman (who looks like he has a troll not too far up his family tree), direct you to the corner booth, where a small motley group has already assembled. ".. and there will be great treasures for those of you who survive!" the hooded stranger continues. Your mind comes back to the present and you realise that you had let your mind wander. Looking around you see that the others too had been distracted, but eyes are now starting to gleam with the mention of rewards...
